On February 6, 2023, there was a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit both Turkey and Syria. Over 20,000 people were killed as a result of this earthquake, many more were left homeless, and thousands of buildings were destroyed.
On May 12, 2008, there was a magnitude 7.9 earthquake in the Sichuan basin in China. This earthquake killed thousands of people, and left millions homeless.
